Closing Ceremonies

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us live (in person and virtually) for the closing ceremonies of the 2021 Office Olympics! The event was livestreamed via YouTube (through the Student Multimedia Studio's channel) and is available now for viewing.

Torch Journey

Premiering at the 2021 Opening Ceremonies was the featured film of the Olympic torch journey. It is viewable in its entirety here now on our website!

Calling all Office Olympians!

2021 marked the 7th Summer Office Olympics event sponsored by University Libraries.

If you have not experienced UL's Office Olympics, visit the 2016 Olympics page to see highlights from The Skeeter Games. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 7th Summer Office Olympiad was held at a smaller scale and primarily in person. However, there were hybrid options depending on the logistics of each competition. View the Olympic Schedule of Events page for details.

Important Dates

  • Opening Ceremony: Monday, August 2 in the Garden Room (11:30 a.m. EST)
  • Series of Games: Monday, August 2 through Monday, August 9 (12-1 p.m. EST)*
  • Closing ceremony and awarding of the medals: Wednesday, August 11 (12 p.m. EST)

See the Olympic Schedule of Events page for the full list of activities. Venues were located throughout the University Library and its nearby territories on the Kent campus.

Eligibility

Eligible athletes include:

  • All employees, retirees, and volunteers of Kent State University Libraries (at all locations and campuses)
  • Everyone who works or volunteers in the University Library Building on the Kent campus
  • Everyone who works or volunteers at the May 4 Visitors Center
  • Members of the Friends of the Library
  • Members of the UL National Advisory Council
  • Children and other special young people of eligible athletes (grandchildren, nephews, nieces, etc., etc.)
