From IOOC Correspondent, Tony Snyder:
Today marked the opening of the 7th Office Olympics of the Modern Era. It was wonderful to see all of you! On behalf of the IOOC, we thank you for joining us!
Laughter was the order of the day today as Tom Mahon was in rare form, keeping everyone in stitches. After a phenomenal video chronicling the torch's journey (Oscar nods, anyone?), Liz Richardson had a fantastic cameo as she made sure that everyone was healthy and set to compete. After the Olympic oath, Manchester Field became the focus of competition.
Our first competition of these Olympics was the Tokyo Diskus Throw.
Gold went to Michael Hawkins with a throw of 81'
Silver went to Nick Fagan with a throw of 72'5"
Bronze went to Kelly Riley with a throw of 70'7"
Congratulations to all the medalists! Thank you to all the competitors for giving it your best effort!
It was wonderful to see Barbara Schloman, (the originator of the Games in 1996) and Dianne Centa today as they joined us for the Ceremony! Special thanks to all of our IOOC members for the hours of work they put in to make this event a success!
Day 2 will bring us the following events:
"Toss Your Cookies" AKA "Toss Your Mochi" will take place in the Basement Hallway of the University Library.
"Diving at Pearl Island" will be held adjacent to the Garden Room, outside the University Library
