Hello, everyone!

Today brought us a plethora of opportunities for competition.

Origami Airplane Throw sponsored by the Dean's Office brought plenty of entrants; here are the results:

  • Claiming Gold was Mary Lovin with a throw of 29' 2 1/4"
  • Silver went to Doug Kubinski with a throw of 20' 5 1/4"
  • Bronze went to Jen Rice with a throw of 17' 7 1/4"

Next up was Kyoto Bowling on the 'K'.  Kate Medicus of Special Collections brings us this report:

Bowling on the “K” moved to the grass due to serious health and safety concerns; the fierce strength of these athletes combined with the weight of Anita’s bocce balls could have been a recipe for some “agony of the feet!” Of course, these top-tier athletes demonstrated their high level of sportsmanship by quickly adapting to this switch of playing surface and launched some serious book-breaking rolls*!

The winners are:

  • GOLD: Hilary Kennedy with 9 points
  • SILVER: Mindy Farmer with 6 points
  • BRONZE: Four people tied with 5 points each: Pam Lemmons, Avery Richardson (student employee in SMS), Nan Garrison, Kimberly Schwab

*IOOC Official Disclaimer: No books currently in the KSU Libraries’ collections were harmed in the making of this Olympic Event…

Finally, we turn to Periodical Pagoda Ping Pong, officiated by this reporter.  We completed one match today as Mike Souza (a graduate student employee in ILL) defeated Tammy Voelker two sets to none in a dazzling match replete with rallies worthy of a highlight show.  Well-played to both competitors!

We will continue on Friday; come by if you want to play!  Spectators are always welcome as well.

Friday (Day 5) will bring us Day 2 of Periodical Pagoda Ping Pong in the May 4 Room and Pēpāwaddo Basukettobōru (translation: "Paperwad Basketball").  Paperwad Basketball will be officiated by Kara Robinson in Room 334 of the University Library.

Join us, won't you?

Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to all of our medalists!

Tony Snyder, for the IOOC

The Flame still burns!
