Day 3

by Tony Snyder on 2021-08-04T21:18:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Hello, everyone!

Competition was fierce today as Day 3 began.

In our tiebreaker from yesterday in "Toss Your Cookies"- AKA "Toss Your Mochi", Mary Lovin writes:

It was an exciting battle for the silver and bronze medals! A cookie throw up had to be held. Who would lose their cookies first? With gusto, Pam Lemmons hurled her cookies to secure a silver medal! Donna Craver heaved her cookies and secured the bronze medal! Hopefully, everyone’s stomach will be settled for the awards ceremony!

  • Mary Lovin – Gold
  • Pam Lemmons  - Silver
  • Donna Craver - Bronze

The stakes were high as archery took over Yumenoshima Park today...so much so that it has not been decided!  We'll need another tiebreaker.  As soon as results are available, I'll share them with you all.

Cindy Kristof writes:

Folks,

According the rules of Rubber Band Archery:

Highest 5 scorers compete in same-day playoff for the top three medals. The gold medal is awarded to the athlete knocking over the highest number of CD-ROMs in a one-round playoff. In the event of a tie, additional playoff rounds will be necessary until we have a gold medal winner.

We did not have time for a same-day playoff today. However, I will be scheduling a playoff using Calendar for some time in the very near future.

We await the conclusion with great anticipation!

Thanks to all those who competed today and congratulations to all the medalists!

Day 4 will bring us three events: Day 1 of Periodical Pagoda Ping Pong will be contested in the May 4 Room.  Be sure to sign up tomorrow at the event in order to play.  Your intrepid reporter will officiate.  The Dean's Office brings us the Origami Airplane Throw in the University Library 3rd floor hallway.  Special Collections brings us Kyoto Bowling on the 'K' on Risman Plaza.

Join us, won't you?

Tony Snyder, for the IOOC

The Flame still burns!
