Library Support for College Writing and Freshman Honors Colloquium: Library Instruction

Schedule a Session with a Librarian

Librarian led classroom instructional experiences are also an important part of the Library's instructional program. You can schedule a librarian to provide in-person instruction for your class.

The librarian can come to your classroom or you can bring your students to the library. The session can be tailored to your student's specific research needs. Library tours are also available.

The following link will take you to a form to submit a request:

Some tips for success include:

  • Plan the research consultation at the point of need, at a time in the semester when students have selected a preliminary topic for their papers. In this way they can begin researching their own topics during the session. ·
  • Poll your students ahead of time to find out if they have had library instruction (online tutorials, wokshops, visits with other courses) in the past to gage their current level of comfort/skill. This information will be helpful when filling out your web form request and when collaborating with the librarian.
  • Be prepared to share your research assignment(s) with the librarian. This is crucial to ensuring that we understand the full extent of the students' information needs.
