Working with an audio recording that has frequent gaps of silence? Use the free tool Audacity to remedy it. One way to remove or shorten the breaks is to highlight the sections using the Selection tool and hit the Delete key. If your track is long and has many gaps another option is the Truncate Silence effect. Simply highlight all or a portion of your track then click Effect > Truncate Silence. Here you can adjust settings to dictate which parts of the track count as “silence” while also choosing how much to compress the gaps.
