One of the common pitfalls in preparing models for 3D printing is having surfaces on a design facing the wrong direction. To fix this in Sketchup, simply right-click on a surface and choose “Reverse Faces”.
An easy way to tell in Sketchup if surfaces are backwards is to set the faces’ default back color to a noticeable hue.
To do this, open the Styles window, click on the Edit tab, then the Face Settings box and change the Back Color to a bright hue.
