Microsoft Word 2010 iconMicrosoft Word 2011 iconAdding page numbers in Microsoft Word is relatively simple, unless you need to apply varying styles of numbers throughout your document or toggle off numbering on specific pages. In those instances, here are 3 keys for success:

  1. Choose to display hidden characters in order to make the numbering process easier. (Click on the Pilcrow [paragraph] symbol on your toolbar).

  2. Add section breaks at the page(s) where the numbering needs to change

  3. Make sure to deselect “Link to Previous Section” in both headers and footers of the page(s) where numbering will be changed.
