SMS Tip of the Week: Multimedia Tips

Finishing your video project

It's crunch time here on campus - the last week of classes! If you have a video project that you have to submit for a course assignment, make sure to give yourself plenty of extra time for the last steps - exporting and uploading. Depending on how long the video is and how many effects/enhancements are applied (transitions, etc.), the render and export time can be anywhere from a few minutes to HOURS. The same goes with uploading the final video to a site like YouTube or Kaltura, Kent State's new video platform. While the video may upload rather quickly, the processing time before the video is viewable could take a few minutes or several hours. A good rule of thumb is to give yourself a minimum of 24 hours before the due date to get through these last steps, especially in case you encounter any issues. No sense putting extra pressure on yourself during what is already a stressful part of the semester!
