Ignoring white in Illustrator Live Traces

by Hilary Kennedy on 2019-03-13T11:51:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

bottom portion of the Image Trace panel in Adobe Illustrator CCWhen you attempt to Live Trace PNG files in Illustrator in order to create vector graphics, you may notice that even with a transparent background Illustrator still assigns a white shape around the image.

To avoid this, expand the Advanced section of the Image Trace Panel (Window > Image Trace), and check the box for "Ignore White". In older versions of Illustrator (like CS6) Illustrator will still include a clear shape around the outside of the image but you can quickly delete it.
