Converting PDFs with Google Docs

Google Docs iconIf you have PDF files that you are hoping to convert into editable document files, there are several options out there like using the Adobe Acrobat Pro. Unfortunately Adobe's free PDF software, Adobe Reader, does not give you the option to convert. Another trick to try? Google Docs! That's right. First, upload your PDF file to your Google Drive. Then, in Drive, right-click on your uploaded PDF file and select Open With > Google Docs. Google Docs will automatically attempt to convert all of the words in your PDF into editable text and drop it into this new Google Doc file (automatically saving to your Drive). It's definitely not fool-proof - images won't carry over and it doesn't seem to handle tables and such at all yet, but it's free and worth a shot!
