Adjusting facial expressions in Photoshop

by Hilary Kennedy on 2023-01-19T09:00:00-05:00 | 0 Comments

A cool feature that has been around in Photoshop since 2016(ish) but is new to us is the Face-Aware Liquify filter. This set of tools will allow you to modify the facial details of your photo subject to tweak, warp and/or exaggerate their expressions. To enable, first convert your layer to a Smart Object (so that you can go back to make changes after the fact) then click on Filter > Liquify to bring up the editing window. From here you can adjust the size and shape of facial features either by clicking and dragging with the Face Tool or using the Facial-Aware Liquify panel on the right. (Note: If these features are grayed out for you, check that "Use Graphics Processor" is enabled in your Photoshop Preferences menu.) For more on this surprising filter, check out this how-to from Adobe.com!
