Academic Integrity is a key factor in your successful academic career at Kent State. The International Center for Academic Integrity defines academic integrity as, "A commitment, even in the face of adversity, to six fundamental values: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage."

As a student, you are expected to turn in quality and honest work. You must give credit to others if you use their ideas in your work. This can come in the form of a citation and acknowledging specifically where you got the ideas from. Presenting someone else's words and ideas as your original work without giving them credit is considered plagiarism.

For example. when talking about someone else's ideas in your work you can say:

"Albert Einstein had a theory about special relativity and I think it can also be applied in this situation to solve this problem, or to explain this phenomenon."
