Guides to Citing Maps and Atlases

There are a number of citation styles, and some address maps and atlases within the style guides. Here are a few guides that are specific to maps and atlases that might be used in combination.

Ohio Wesleyan University Guide to Citing Maps
Gives descriptions and examples of ways to cite many maps and atlases both in print and online. Discusses ways to distinguish between dynamic, static, and real time online material and how to cite it.

GIS Software

Online GIS software

ArcGIS Online
ArcGIS Online, only for the KSU community (part of the ESRI site license) is an online mapping tool that utilizes ESRI data and maps. Layers can be downloaded or uploaded to use in a fuller GIS and maps created here can be linked so that others can view them. Collaborative projects can also be uploaded to ArcGIS Online. Please use the Request software tab to request a log in.
Business Analyst Online
Business Analyst, only for the KSU community (part of the ESRI site license) market research mapping and reports, access to some data sets restricted to license agreement teaching use only. Online access requires ESRI free account from on campus. Also integrates with ArcGIS desktop. Please use the Request Software link to request a login.
Community Analyst Online
Community Analyst, only for the KSU community (part of the ESRI site license). Community demographic and market information, mapping and reports. Requires ESRI free account from on campus.
