DO NOT ERASE EXISTING MARKINGS.
Any alteration of these materials will result in fines equivalent to existing replacement fines for Kent State University library materials. Ongoing circulation of this valuable collection depends on the continued respect for these use guidelines by those who have the privilege of studying from these materials.
Composer and educator Donald Erb enjoyed a long career at the Cleveland Institute of Music, retiring in 1996 as Distinguished Professor Emeritus. His works have been featured on numerous recordings, and he received numerous awards and grants.
The Donald Erb Music Collection contains music scores, compact discs, personal papers, programs, and other writings on Erb’s music. The scores include personal copies of published works, as well as proof copies of scores edited by Erb to be sent to his copyist prior to final publication by Merion/Presser. The scores contain markings by Erb that will be of interest to scholars, and their provenance makes them of local interest as well.
Personal copies of published works are publically circulating at the Performing Arts Library, and also available through OhioLINK and Interlibrary Loan. Proof copies of scores edited by Erb, personal papers, programs, other writings on Erb’s music, and selected other materials are housed in the Special Collections at the Performing Arts Library, and do not circulate.
Looking for something not available at the Performing Arts Library? Visit Case Western Reserve University Library Special Collections, which also houses scores composed by and papers relating to Donald Erb.
