Search Strategies

To find printed music for one oboe, one horn and piano:

  1. Select 1 instrument from the left hand menus (from the Woodwinds drop-down menu choose Oboe).

    Example: choose oboe from drop-down menu. See information above.
     
  2. Then select the number of that instrument and click “Update.”

    Example: choose number 1 from drop-down menu (indicates instrumentation includes 1 oboe). See information above.
     
  3. Under “Your search is for:” the instrument and number of performers selected will appear (1 Oboe).

    Search terms. See information above.
     
  4. To add more instruments repeat steps 1-3.

  5. To view the results click the “Perform KentLINK Search” button near the bottom of the page.


Note: If you make a mistake, simply press the “back” button on your browser. Click the “Start Over” button on the right hand side near the bottom of the page to begin a new search.

Final Tip: To narrow the KentLINK search further, click on the   Limit/Sort Search   button:

  • Words in Title
  • Name of the composer/arranger
  • Words in Subject
  • Publisher
  • Date of Publication

More Tips

Use the Musical Instrumentation Search to Find:

  • Chamber music
  • Solo instrumental music, both accompanied and unaccompanied
  • Songs with specified accompaniment
  • Arrangements for specific instrumentation

 

 

Do Not Use the Musical Instrumentation Search to Find:

  • Music for large ensembles, including orchestras and bands
  • Operas, musicals, and other large vocal works
  • Folk and popular music
  • Hymns and liturgical chants
  • Collections with miscellaneous instrumentation
  • Songbooks
