Makerspace at KSU Tuscarawas: Heat Press

Our heat press is used to apply heat transfer vinyl to t-shirts, mugs, plates and hats. It is very simple to use.

• Place a t-shirt in the press,
• Turn on the press and wait for it to heat up. (The temperature is preset for most fabrics.)
• Put your applique on where you want it being careful not to touch the heat press.
• Place a Teflon cloth over the shirt and applique to prevent scorching.
• Pull down the handle and the timer will automatically to begin. 30 seconds later it beeps.
• Remove your t-shirt being careful not to touch the heat press.
• Peel off the plastic and you are done!
