Computer Search Report Checklist (CSRC): Versions

Versions of the CSRC

The links below are to different versions of the CSRC.  These are being evaluated for updating and enhancement.

The items on the "49 item" versions were tentatively coded as relevant to looking for evidence of comprehensiveness and/or reproducibility.  These codes were based on experience and consulting systematic review guidelines.

The checklist items have been used for a number of projects.

  • The first project produced a poster session: "Creating a Resource for Evaluating Computer Search Reports in Systematic Reviews" -- A Poster Presentation for ACRL's EBSS Research Forum -- June 26, 2010. Presenters: Paul Fehrmann at Kent State University (pfehrman@kent.edu) and Joelle Thomas who is now at the University of Connecticut (joelle.thomas@uconn.edu).
  • A second project involved using 10 CSRC items to evaluate computer search reports to see evidence for the comprehensiveness of computer searches. See the Comprehensiveness section.
  • A third project involved using an updated set of CSRC items. These items looked at ways of evaluating computer search reports in order to determine the reproducibility of computer searches.  The results also served as additional data for evaluating inter-rater agreement for the CSRC items.  See the section on Reproducibility.

Just below, the link to a comparison of "original 49" items to the CSRC-R items pertains to items focusing on "reproducibility" of electronic searches.
