This assessment measures students confidence in using library or information. It works best in classes that do not have a skill that needs to be assessed. How students feel about instruction and their use of the library is an important part of assessing library instruction.
Project Outcome is a toolkit created by ACRL and is free to use. The toolkit hosts seven surveys, Instruction, Events/Programs, Research, Teaching Support, Digital and Special Collections, Space, and Library Technology. The surveys allow for additional questions to be added that can be both multiple choice or open-ended. There is data management on the administration side that allows you to create reports and compare your results with intuitions in the same Carnegie classification.
The surveys measure confidence and opinion in the different areas of library instruction and services. I recommend we use the Events/Programs survey for all FYE classes. Other opportunities: Online Instruction (Instruction survey), Research Appointments (Research survey).
