Kent State University Library Resources for KSUCPM: Getting Started

About this page

These are key tools for doing library research.

Key Library Tools

  1. Libraries' homepage at http://www.kent.edu/library is the main portal to all the Libraries' electronic content and services. In addition to directly accessing through this URL, you can also connect through Flashline and the University home page.
  2. Connecting from off-campus: you must authenticate when off-campus to use the Libraries' licensed databases and electronic journals (see info at http://www.library.kent.edu/offcampus . Note: KSU Proxy authentication is used to gain access to all licensed resources). OhioLINK authentication will not provide access to resources licensed only by KSU.
  3.  Journal Finder: invaluable tool to learn if online or print copies of a specific journal are available. Found on the Libraries' homepage in the blue Research box or directly at: http://www.library.kent.edu/journals
  4.  Interlibrary Loan: use this free service to get an electronic copy of an article from our print collection or from another library. Also used to obtain books not available through KSU or OhioLINK. First-time users will need to create an account. Found on the Libraries' homepage or directly at:  https://kent.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/logon.html.
  5. RefWorks: tool for collecting your journal references and for assistance in creating a bibliography in any specific style. You will first need to create an account: https://www.refworks.com/Refworks/login.asp?WNCLang=false. NOTE: You must use VPN to authenticate if off-campus.
  6. My Library Account: the link to this feature is found on the KentLINK toolbar (http://kentlink.kent.edu). Sign in with your Flashline credentials to view all materials checked out with due dates, as well as any items in transit. Materials can be renewed online through this account. Also it is possible to set up a query here to be notified of any new items added to the collection that are a match.
  7. Ask a Librarian at http://www.library.kent.edu/askus. In addition to the library staff at KSUCPM, the Kent campus staff will be happy to assist. There are many ways to get assistance--in person, email, instant messaging. Do not hesitate to ask.
  8. Technical assistance: University support service for help with any connection issues:  http://support.kent.edu OR 330-672-HELP.
