HIS: History Research Guide: Viewing and Printing

Viewing and Printing

Documents in New York Times Historical are in PDF format. However, since the newspaper is about 24" long many of the files are too long in length to fit on the average piece of paper (8.5" x 11" or 11' x 14"(legal)). This makes viewing and especially printing difficult.

When the article opens you may not be able to read it without using the "zoom" feature on the reader.

To print the article in a format that is readable click on the "Print" link in the options box to the right of the article. When the print box opens you can print the article.  You can also use the "Email" link to e-mail the article to yourself as a PDF and print that particular PDF.  Before selecting an article to use for this assignment, be sure that it is readable when printed.

If you want to read online, use the "Zoom" feature of the online reader.

If the PDF does not load into the NYTH viewer, click on the tab that says "Page View - PDF."

Save the article to your computer if you want to view it later.
