About This Guide
This guide is designed to assist students enrolled in Professor Mike Blake's PTST Physical Therapy Seminar.
All the research materials and information sources you will need for your Inservice research and preparation presentation are available in this guide. Tips and tricks, crediable health information resources, APA citation generators and citation guides are included.
Off Campus Access to Library Resources
Off-campus (or remote) access to the University Libraries’ electronic resources is now provided through a service known as KSU Proxy. It allows Library users to securely connect to databases, electronic journals, ebooks and streaming media services without installing complicated third-party software.
When you attempt to access library content from off campus, you’re prompted to enter your FlashLine username and password after which you’re connected. It’s that easy.
Start Here: Research Topic Guidelines
Remember for your Inservice Research and Preparation Assignment you need to include a variety of research materials for your presentation.
- Use at least 4 peer reviewed articles.
- Use at least 1 textbook resource.
- Use at least 1 credible internet source.
Research Databases
- CINAHL Plus with Full Text This link opens in a new windowFind articles on nursing and allied health topics including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, consumer health, alternative therapies and more. Also includes evidence-based care sheets, continuing education modules, and research instruments records.
- Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition This link opens in a new windowFind articles from 255 journals, some peer reviewed, on a variety of health-related topics including pediatric nursing, critical care, nursing management, medical law and more.
Video Resources
- Physical Therapy ChannelOnline video library for physical therapists, students, educators, and other healthcare disciplines. Created in 2008 by a special team of physical therapists with the goal of uploading pertinent and relevant video content related to the physical therapy profession.
Web Sites
- National Library of Medicine's Health Topics Read about symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention for over 975 diseases, illnesses, health conditions and wellness issues. MedlinePlus health topics are regularly reviewed, and links are updated daily.
- National Rehabilitation Information Center "Gateway to an abundance of disability- and rehabilitation-oriented information organized in a variety of formats designed to make it easy for users to find and use."
