Marnie Ellis College Research Writing: Assignment 2

Marnie Ellis Research Writing

Assignment #2

Movie Videos in the Library

Film Review Resources

Grading Criteria

  • Does your essay clearly establish your criteria for a successful film adaptation?  Is your assessment of this version, as well as your dialogue with the other contemporary reviewers, clear from your thesis?  Do you effectively compare and contrast the three reviews with your own opinion of the film?

  • Are the claims easily linked to the thesis?  Does the organization suit your purposes and is it easy to follow?  How convincing and surprising are your conclusions? Are your arguments sufficiently developed?

  • Have you provided sufficient textual evidence from both the film and the three contemporary reviews to support your claims?  Have you shown how your examples back up your argument instead of requiring readers to draw conclusions on their own?   Does the essay avoid retelling the novel and include only the pieces of information which relate directly to its argument?

  • Have you avoided errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and documentation?
