Basic Instructions for Setting-up an APA style paper in Microsoft WORD

There are some basic steps to setting-up your paper in Microsoft WORD or Google DOCS for APA Style. It is best to take these formatting steps BEFORE beginning to type your paper.

If you follow the steps in the videos below then you will not have to attempt to format your paper after writing. 

Each video below covers the set-up and format of your paper. Each is also slightly different although the end-result is the same. 

NOTE:

In October 2019 The American Psychological Association published the 7th edition of the APA manual. There are some changes that are of note for this edition. Watch the video if you are interested in the 17 most important changes. 

The Microsoft WORD and Google DOC videos on this page will be updated as new information becomes available relating to the APA 7th edition and how it affects paper set-up.
