Library Research Methods in Psychology: Library Research Guide

This guide provides information and steps for finding articles in psychology.

Basic Library Research in Psychology - what is in this guide.....

This guide is focused on information and steps to use to find articles for student papers in psychology.  It does this by giving the following:

1. Descriptions and examples showing the difference between scholarly and popular articles.

2. Descriptions and examples of connecting to and then searching PsycINFO to discover and access copies of scholarly articles.

3. Information and steps for using the Journal Finder at Kent State.

4. Comments and suggestions on using other databases, books, and other resources.

5. Information on connecting to PsycINFO and journal articles on campus or off campus useing computers (and mobile devices).

6. Information and examples on using APA style with papers.

Off Campus Tip If you are going to be searching for and trying to connect to articles off campus, be sure to read the steps you can find for connecting off campus.  See and connect to On & Off Campus at left.

TIME  Give yourself time to get the articles you need to write papers.  It is a good idea to plan and act to have your articles in hand at least 2 weeks before you need to write your papers.  Getting started "right away" gives you a feel for the time and effort your project will take.
