Textbook Information

For Students

Physical Reserves in the library:

The library services desk can help you find print reserves.  You can start by searching for your course materials in our catalog by clicking here.  For further assistance contact reserves [at] kent.edu and include the course name, instructor name, and books you need for your classes.

Electronic Reserves

Please check the navigation in your course's Canvas page to see if your instructor added electronic reserves for your section. You can also login using the Ares weblink to see if there are any classes you are taking that have electronic reserves available.

For Instructors

Physical Reserves in the library:

As an instructor you can request physical materials for your course by submitting a ticket here.  If approved items will be available at the library services desk for checkout.  This means that any physical reserve items (including kits, books, skeletons, etc.) can be connected to courses for student use.

Electronic Reserves

Streaming videos: Streaming video requests will now be reviewed before purchase. We are prioritizing course materials, so if you use films in your class please send the film list to reserves [at] kent.edu, we will see when your course materials expire and come up with a plan to get you what you need. If you do not do this, it is possible that materials will expire in the middle of the course, and there may be a delay in acquiring access. For more information see the library web page for Streaming Videos on Course Reserves

We are purchasing ebooks for course materials wherever possible. If we are unable to, we can often scan sections of the book to add to electronic reserves (there are copyright restrictions, and each case is evaluated separately). If you need your students to have access to library materials, please send an email to reserves [at] kent.edu and we can look into your request to digitize or purchase. We can add pdfs, links, articles, scanned chapters, etc to Ares, our electronic reserves system. Please know that we are receiving a lot of requests and will get to your request as soon as we can, we appreciate your patience!
