Graduate Bookplate Program: About the Program

About the Program

No one ever graduated from a library. No one ever graduated without one.

Times change. Traditions remain. The gift of a personalized bookplate through the Graduate Bookplate Program will remain part of the Kent State University Libraries for years to come.

A bookplate, or ex-libris, is a decorative label that is placed inside the cover of a book. Historically, these attractive labels left the legacy of ownership of a book or volume of books within a library.

Now, you can create your own personalized bookplate through the University Libraries Graduate Bookplate Program. In doing so, you  leave the legacy of heartfelt gratitude, celebration and honor in a University Libraries book for all to see.

Times change. Traditions remain. Giving the gift of a personalized bookplate in a University Libraries book is a thoughtful and lasting way to:

  • Celebrate the milestone of college graduation
  • Show your gratitude for a family member, professor or a friend who supported you in your studies

You can also...

  • Recognize an organization, club or society important to you
  • Memorialize a deceased spouse, parent, grandparent, family member or friend

The Bookplate

To make the gift meaningful for the recipient, your personalized bookplate will be placed in a University Libraries book of your choice. If you do not have a preference, we will choose a book from our collection on your behalf.

Once the book is selected, a handsome, personalized bookplate will be placed in the physical book. The honoree’s name will also be displayed in the book’s record in the online catalog.

Your gift of $25 is tax-deductible and a notification is sent immediately to the recipient so he or she is aware of your thoughtful donation in their name.
