“Words can't describe how thankful we are for our students," said Dean of University Libraries, Jim Bracken. “Last year, the students voted University Libraries the best place to study in Kent (Daily Kent Stater, the Best of Kent 2013). Our gate counts are up not at just the University Library, but at our branch libraries, too. We see students working hard to succeed, and that motivates the Libraries to work just as hard to provide world class services, facilities, and resources to support students and optimize their learning experience. Student Appreciation Day is going to be a great event.”
“We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to our students,” said Ken Burhanna, Assistant Dean for Engagement and Outreach. “Our Libraries are busy and vibrant and it’s because of our students. We see them working hard every day and want to make sure they know that we appreciate their hard work and their support. It’s also an opportunity to continue our ongoing discussions with users, to talk with them and hear about their needs and learn how to better help them to succeed.”
March 10th is a special day for students at Kent State University Libraries!

Students are invited to visit any of the Kent Campus Libraries from 10 am to 3 pm on Monday March 10th to enjoy refreshments and treats and to enter a drawing for a chance to win a gift certificate to the University Bookstore.
Student Appreciation Day will be celebrated at five locations on the Kent campus:
• University Library, including Special Collections & Archives on floor 12
• Architecture Library (309 Taylor Hall)
• Fashion Library (131 Rockwell Hall)
• Map Library (410 McGilvrey Hall)
• Performing Arts Library (D-004, Center for the Performing Arts)
A $100 University Bookstore gift certificate will be given away at each location and everyone who enters will have a chance to win the grand prize, a $400 University Bookstore gift certificate. In addition to refreshments and give-a-ways, library staff and faculty will be on hand to say thanks in person, and a number of other special activities will be planned. “At the University Library, students will have the opportunity to pet the Therapy Dogs. They can also visit Special Collections & Archives on floor 12 and have their photo taken with the beloved children’s character Barbar, or stop by the Student Multimedia Studio to visit their photo booth and play with some of their new technologies, like our 3D printer,” said Assistant Dean, Ken Burhanna.
