Transitioning from RefWorks at Kent State: About this site

About this site: Transitioning from RefWorks by end of June, 2017

At the end of June, 2017 the current Kent State University subscription to RefWorks will expire, and the subscription will not be renewed.

Overview workshops have been provided on alternative software programs: Zotero, EndNote, Mendeley.

Information on Clinics is now listed in the "Workshops, clinics" area. See and click at left.

Users should take steps now to save all their RefWorks content by June and transition to a new program.  This move may be especially important for those working on major papers, articles, dissertations, theses or grants, particularly if those projects will depend on personal RefWorks content needed after June 30. Also those using RefWorks to "share" RefWorks folders will want to investigate the other programs we discuss here to see similar options for sharing online content.

This web site provides the following:

  • Explanation for RefWorks transition decision.
  • Comparisons of key alternatives (EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero) - consider workflow, cost, functions, and your needs.
  • Basic steps for moving your references from RefWorks to another program.
  • Workshops, clinic, and consultation information.
  • Transition FAQ.
  • Online Help (help from the software sites and connctions to other users)
